Christmas Vacation

Over Christmas break I am going to Illinois, Chicago. I leave the 26th of December and return after a week and a half. Before I go I will spend Christmas with my family, at my house. I have gone to Chicago every Christmas break for as long as I can remember. My moms side of the family lives there, which is 6 cousins, 2 grandparents, and 4 aunts, and uncles. This is the one time of the year I get to see them, except one year when when they visited us over the summer. I love going there because it is always so much colder there than here in Austin. It sometimes even snows a little bit! So I am looking forward to Christmas break, so I can relax, and visit Chicago.

I am From poem

I am from…

I am from the white crock pot

from pumpkin scented candles filling the house and basil plants used on our meals

I am from pillow forts in the upstairs living room and dogs running around with energy that is indispensable

I am from pink rose bushes

from the park down the street which I went to at least once a day

I am from cookies for Santa and Easter egg hunts

I am from Debbie and Carlos’s branch

from princess dresses and special birthday dinners

I am from goodnight moon

I am from “did you Brush your teeth?” And “life isn’t fair”

from ” I am abuela, and not grandma”

I’m from opening one present on Christmas Eve, and only one

I am from California

From carne empanadas and red velvet cupcakes for special occasions

I am from Trevor’s messed up face by getting smashed into a retaining wall from my dog

I am from the old heartwarming memories of collections from my abuela

Tons of scrapbooks piled high into many cabinets locking up the moments from those times not to be forgotten.

My Grandparents

My grandparents from my mothers side of the family live in Chicago Illinois. My parents have been planning for a while to go to San Diego this weekend, so they called my grandparents to come in to town, and stay with my brothers and me. I don’t get to see them very much, maybe once or twice a year, and I am the one who usually goes to visit them. I love spending time with them because they are funny and always make me laugh. They got here Wednesday morning and they are leaving next Thursday. I’m glad I got the chance to see them, and I’m happy they have enjoyed coming.

My New Room

Since January of 2013, I have been staying upstairs in the guest room while my house was being constructed on. My real room is on the middle floor of my house, I am the only one on that floor. Everybody else’s rooms are on the third floor. I love my room on the second floor because it is big and right next to the kitchen! In about 2 weeks, my room with be totally completed. Which means; my floors will be cleaned, my bathroom will be done, my bed will be put together, and my furniture will be put back in its place. I am super excited to move back in so I don’t have to share a bathroom with my two brothers. I have been counting the days until my dream room is finally completed.

Rain

Rain can fall in practically two ways. It can come down as a soft quiet drizzle, or a hard, heavy downpour like little pebbles. Rain can also come along with golfball hail, lighting, wind, and thunder.A few days ago, during the night I woke up to the harsh grating sound of twigs against my window. Along with lighting strikes here and there. Last year, during my volleyball party, we were planning to go play volleyball outside. Except, rain was smashing down like bullets on a war field and lighting struck hard like a slap. We were trapped inside the whole time, till the end when we went out to run in the rain.

A-Team Success

Last Friday all the girls that tried out for volleyball found out if they made A or B team. I am excited to say that I was put on the A team. We had practice all last week and will have practice all this week. On the A team I was put as the top setter, which means I get the second ball, and set it out to the hitter. I am looking forward to a very excited season with my team. I have many friends on my team, so that is going to make the season even better.
